Thunderstorms in the East and fog – weather forecast for the coming days

Thursday is expected to be mostly cloudy across Latvia, with widespread rain. In the eastern part of the country, heavy thunderstorms are forecast for the afternoon and evening, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. Winds will remain light, and daytime temperatures will range between +16°C and +21°C, although cooler conditions of +12°C to +16°C are expected along the coast.

Weather warnings for rain and thunderstorms in the eastern regions are likely to be issued on Thursday.

Friday will bring variable cloud cover, with occasional sunshine. Rain is expected overnight in the eastern part of the country, with intense thunderstorm activity possible in some eastern areas during the first half of the night. During the day, precipitation will be scattered and limited to a few locations. Fog may form overnight, reducing visibility in some regions. Winds will remain light, shifting to southwest and south near the coast and becoming light to moderate. Temperatures at night will drop to +4°C to +9°C in the west and +10°C to +12°C in the east. During the day, temperatures will rise to +16°C to +21°C, with slightly cooler conditions near the sea.

The Meteorology Centre forecasts mostly cloudy skies for the weekend, with showers likely across much of the country. Temperatures, however, will remain relatively warm – +6°C to +12°C at night, and +15°C to +20°C during the day. There is a possibility of drier weather on Sunday.

At the beginning of next week, the weather pattern is not expected to change significantly – skies will remain mostly cloudy, occasional showers will continue, and temperatures will stay within similar ranges as in the preceding days.
