Thunderstorms and wind – weather to become more unsettled in the latter half of the week

On Wednesday, skies will be partly cloudy, and thunderclouds are expected to form in some areas. These will bring heavy downpours to parts of eastern Latvia during the night, and to a broader area during the day. There is also a possibility of hail, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

During the night, with light winds, fog may form in some areas, reducing visibility. Temperatures will drop to +14…+18°C overnight, while daytime highs will reach +20…+25°C, though coastal areas may remain cooler – around +18…+20°C.

Towards the end of the work week, the weather will remain mostly cloudy, with only occasional sunny intervals.

Rain clouds will bring precipitation to many parts of the country, with strong thunderstorms expected on Thursday and into the night leading into Friday. Winds will remain light on Thursday, allowing fog to form in some areas during the night and early morning. On Friday, northerly and northeasterly winds are expected to strengthen.

Nighttime temperatures will remain between +15…+18°C, and

during the day, it will warm to +19…+24°C, reaching up to +25°C in some places.

Over the weekend, a new cyclone will once again reach Latvia, continuing to shape the weather. Sunshine will alternate with clouds, and rainfall is expected across much of the country during the day.

Northerly winds will continue to dominate, and air temperatures will remain similar, with daytime highs rising above +20°C in many areas.

The start of next week will also be influenced by the cyclone, with rain expected in most parts of the country.
