Three million Ukrainian war refugees return to their homeland

Three million Ukrainians who left their home country in the first months of the war have returned to their home country from the European Union, as reported by European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson at a press-conference in Prague.
According to her, 6.7 million Ukrainians had previously fled to Europe. Now approximately 3 million of them have returned to Ukraine. 3.7 million of the remaining Ukrainians have submitted requests for temporary asylum.
The European commissioner said this number is not accurate because the practice observed so far is when Ukrainians submit asylum request sin one country and then leave for another country after submitting a request.

«This means there are 3.2 to 3.7 million Ukrainians still remaining in the European Union.»

Johansson estimates the biggest number of Ukrainians when compared to the population of the host country is in the Czech Republic, followed by Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Latvia.
European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex reported at the end of June that since the start of Russian invasion of Ukraine more than 6 million Ukrainian citizens have fled to the European Union. At the same time 3.1 million Ukrainians have left the EU and have returned to their home country.
