Three Latvian state officials waive their Saeima deputy’s wage

Three members of New Unity – Krišjānis Kariņš, Evika Siliņa and Edgars Rinkēvičs – have decided to waive their wages as Saeima deputies, according to applications submitted to the Saeima Praesidium.
In their applications to the parliament, these deputies listed their decision to waive their wages for the duration of their respective terms in the government.
Kariņš remains Latvia’s PM, Siliņa is the prime minister’s parliamentary secretary. Edgars Rinkēvičs remains Latvia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Saeima deputies will remain active members of the government for as long as it takes the parliament to elect a new government and ministers.
According to information available on the Latvian Saeima’s website, the wage of a deputy of 14th Saeima is 3 386 before taxes.
