The start of the week will be cloudy and, at times, rainy in Latvia. Eastern parts, however, should prepare for sunny and dry weather. In the second half of the week the heat will return. Meteorologists expect new air temperature records, according to Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Monday, 22 August, atmospheric pressure will increase slightly. Many parts of the country will experience rain and even strong thunderstorms during the day. The wind will be slow but will reach high speeds during storms. Daytime air temperature will reach +19° C… +24° C (+13° C… +15° C in eastern parts). In eastern parts of the country air temperature will drop to +13° C… +15° C at night and reach +27° C… +28° C during the day.
On Tuesday and Wednesday weather will remain rainy. Western and central regions may experience short-term rain and thunderstorms. The wind will be slow, which means fog may form at night. Minimal air temperature at night will range between +13° C… +19° C, whereas maximum daytime air temperature will be +25° C… +30° C.
In the second half of the week precipitation will calm down, weather will become clearer.
The wind will be slow and will blow from the east.
Nights will remain warm. Tropical nights are also expected. During the day air temperature in most of the country will reach +28° C… +32° C. New air temperature records are expected.
