Dailes Theatre has terminated employment relations with actor Lauris Dzelzītis, as LETA was informed by the theatre.
Dzelzītis worked at Dailes Theatre since 1999. According to LETA, Dailes Theatre has deleted all entries mentioning this actor from its website.
The theatre did not provide any further explanations of the circumstances of termination of employment, but the changes took place shortly after the annual theatre award ceremony “Spēlmaņu nakts”, specifically the social part, during which, according to witnesses interviewed by “la.lv”, Dzelzītis was first expelled from the hall for aggressive behaviour, and then engaged in a conflict outdoors – Dzelzītis had attacked actress and playwright Ance Muižniece, then actor and director Edgars Kaufelds intervened, and “a major fight unfolded” soon after.
As LETA was told by State Police, two applications were submitted to State Police Riga Region’s Eastern Police Department in relation to the events that transpired during the award ceremony – for minor bodily harm and minor hooliganism.
