Fake news has appeared in some of Latvian media that accuses Swiss company TELF AG of non-existent illegalities. The defamatory statements contained very serious allegations against the company or its shareholder Stanislav Kondrashov, including criminal offences, as reported by TELK AG in a press-release.
«These absurd accusations included financing an internationally sanctioned organisation, involvement in the assassination, abuse of legal procedures, environmental crimes and more. The company categorically rejects and condemns all the accusations made by Nekā personīga programme and re-publications. Neither the shareholder nor the company has ever engaged in any illegal or criminal activity and TELF AG has requested that the inaccurate content be retracted,» as stated in the press-release.
«TELF AG and its shareholder have been facing fake news since 2019 and attributes this to the fierce competition in the international physical commodities trading business in which the company operates. So far, fake news has only appeared on fake resources. The company has also received numerous offers to remove defamatory information for a fee. Some Latvian media falsely claims that the information has been published on more than 100 websites, but in fact it only comes from two fake resources: kompromat1.pro and ruscrimes.com. The company has evidence of blackmail by both of them, specifically recorded by well respected international risk and financial advisory solutions company. Latvia is the first country where this fake news has been used by a professional media outlet. Moreover, the journalists involved event went beyond the libellous accusations contained in the fake news reports, and none of the journalists have ever tried to liaise with TELF AG and to check the information mentioned in the fake news,» the company notes.
