Tax debts in Latvia down to 874.3 million euros in March

The total tax debt volume in Latvia, including active, halted and extended tax debt repayment terms, was 874.267 million euros at the beginning of March, which is 0.3% lower when compared with the start of the year, according to data from the State Revenue Service (VID).
The debt to the state base budget was 416.942 million euros at the beginning of march, which is 0.6% less when compared with the start of January. Debts to municipal budgets accounted for 282.938 million euros, which is 0.8% more than a month prior. Social insurance contribution debts accounted for 174.387 million euros, which is a drop of 1.1%.

Active debts applied with a late payment fee accounted for 58.1% of the total debt volume or 507.628 million euros.

Data from VID also indicates that debts worth a total of 2.128 million euros are considered unenforceable – these debts come from companies that were liquidated before the completion of their respective liquidation procedure.
Debts worth 505.5 million euros, on the other hand, are considered enforceable. Debts worth 229.009 million euros are considered realistically enforceable and debts worth 276.49 million are considered realistically unenforceable.

Payment term extension was provided to debts worth a total of 130.556 million euros, which is 7.3% less when compared with the beginning of the year.

The halted debt volume for which late payment fee calculation has ceased was 236.083 million euros at the beginning of march – this amount was composed of debts of insolvent companies.
On the 1st of January 2022 the total tax debt volume in Latvia was 876.776 million euros.
