48% of small and medium-sized businesses in Latvia have switched either partially or fully to the digital environment during the pandemic, according to a survey done by mobile communications operator Tele2 and Berg Research.
This is particularly true for businesses with 6-10 years of experience and companies that do not have more than five employees.
Trade (51%) and service businesses (48%) have switched to the digital environment fully or partially. 45% of businesses engaged in production have also switched to the digital environment.
«46% of small and medium-sized companies admit that they will remain in the digital environment after the pandemic. 35% of businesses are committed to developing their presence in the digital environment. This means most small and medium-sized businesses, which make up 98% of Latvia’s business environment, have noticed the advantages the digital environment provide and they see more opportunities ahead,» says Tele2 commercial director Raivo Rosts.
«Expansion into the digital environment can offer a considerable boost to competitiveness not only in Latvia but also help reach out to markets of other countries.»
Survey data also shows that 38% of trade businesses and 35% of service businesses have plans to develop their presence in the digital environment.
Every fourth trade and every tenth production and service businesses are still unsure about developing their presence in the digital environment.
To determine the opinion of small and medium-sized businesses in Latvia in regards to the switch to the digital environment, Tele2 performed a survey together with Berg Research, interviewing 350 businesses.
