Russian government has announced that retailers would limit the sale of essential foods and put a cap on the markup they place on such products, as the country continues its invasion of neighbouring Ukraine, AFP, Business Standard and TASS report.
Over the weekend, Russian shops were told to limit sales of essential foodstuffs to counter black market speculation.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Saturday, March 5, major retail chains could restrict the sale of a number of «socially important goods», such as food staples, and limit how high they mark up their prices, explaining that the measures were aimed at possible speculation.
TASS, the Russian state news agency, wrote that some retailers had agreed to put a cap on a number of products, including dairy products, bakery goods and sugar, to 5%, Business Standard reports.
