Sunny and dry weather to stay; first heatwave is expected

As the activity of the anticyclone remains, the drought period also continues in Latvia, Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. At the end of the week, the weather will be mostly sunny.
Gusts will be observed only at times on the coast, as the wind increases. In most of the country, the maximum air temperature will be within +17 C…+22 C. Next week, when a warmer air mass flows in, the temperature will rise above +27 C in some places.
On Friday the 9th of June, the sky will be temporarily covered by clouds, which will not bring significant precipitation. Winds will be light to moderate from the north-northeast, it will be gusty along the gulf coast. During the day, the air temperature will rise to +16 C…+21 C degrees, in the southern regions up to +23 C.
The holiday will also be mostly sunny and dry as the influence of high pressure persists. The wind will be slow to moderate from the northeast, and north. On Saturday, the 10th of June, night, the thermometer will drop to +4 C…+9 C, but it will be a little warmer on the coast, +8 C…+13 C. On the night of Sunday, the 11th of June, the minimum air temperature is expected in the range of +7 C…+12 C across the country.
As the sky clears and the wind calms down,

more likely in Vidzeme. During the days, the air will warm up to +18 C…+23C.
Next week, the weather will remain similar – there will be few clouds, precipitation is not expected, and only the wind is expected to subside. On Monday, te 12th of June, at night, the minimum air temperature is expected to be within the range of +8 C…+13 C, but during the day the air will warm up to +20 C…+24 C in most parts of the country.

IT WILL BECOME EVEN WARMER THE NEXT DAYS.

As of Tuesday, the 13th of June, night, it will not be colder than +10 C, and during the days the thermometer will rise above the +27 C mark – the first significant heat period of this summer is expected.
As the dry conditions continue, fire danger is still high in most of the country.
It is also reminded that when the sky clears, the UV index will be moderately high.
