Summer today, but autumn’s breath will arrive in Latvia by the weekend

On Tuesday, the sun will occasionally be covered by clouds, which in the afternoon may bring short showers and thunderstorms in some eastern regions. A light to moderate westerly wind will blow, becoming gusty during storms. Today will be the warmest day of the week, with air temperatures rising to +20…+25°C, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

Overnight into Wednesday, a band of rainfall will begin moving in from the northwest, bringing showers to most parts of the country and possibly thunderstorms in some areas. The southwesterly and westerly winds will shift to northwesterly and northerly directions, blowing lightly to moderately. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +10…+14°C, while during the day they will not exceed +15…+19°C.

Thursday will also bring variable cloud cover with occasional showers.

With light winds, fog will form in some regions overnight, reducing visibility. The night into Thursday will be especially chilly, only +5…+10°C inland, while coastal areas will remain slightly milder at +11…+15°C. During the day, air temperatures will reach +16…+19°C.

Toward the end of the work week and into the weekend, new cyclones will continue to dominate, bringing scattered rain clouds across most of Latvia. Winds will become gustier over the weekend. Nights will remain chilly, with lows of +6…+11°C, while daytime highs will stay within +15…+19°C, dropping by another degree or so during the weekend.
