From the 1st of September, consultation fees at Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital (PSKUS) will be increased by 10 euros, hospital representative Gunda Jauntēva confirmed to LETA.
According to a post by a user on X, the hospital sent such a notification shortly before her scheduled visit.
Jauntēva explained that the decision was made after conducting a market study and aligning prices with the market average. Inflation and other factors, such as rising healthcare costs, were also taken into account. Until now, part of the increased medical costs had been covered by the hospital’s own resources.
For example, from the 1st of September, a certified doctor’s consultation will cost 70 euros instead of the previous 60 euros, while a professor’s consultation fee will rise from 80 euros to 90 euros.
Overall, the PSKUS
paid services price list includes about 10,000 different services and procedures, and it was last updated two years ago.
Jauntēva also noted that, given the overall funding situation in the healthcare sector, raising consultation fees is one of the solutions to ensure continuity and quality of services.
The hospital has not yet forecast whether such price list revisions might be carried out annually, as this depends on several factors.
PSKUS apologized to patients for the inconvenience.
The approved paid services price list, effective from the 1st of September, will be available on the hospital’s website.
