Stena Line deploys brand new ferry on Ventspils-Nynäshamn Baltic Sea route

In continuation of Swedish ferry company Stena Line expansion in the Baltic Sea region, a brand new ferry – Stena Baltica – was deployed on the Ventspils-Nynäshamn route on Wednesday, 19 January, as BNN was told by the company’s representative.
Stena Baltica will operate on this route together with Stena Scandica, replacing Stena Flavia, which will operate on Liepāja-Travemünde route together with Stena Livia.
Stena Baltica is a sister ship to Stena Scandica, which has been carrying passengers between Ventspils and Nynäshamn since 2021. It is 222 m long and has 202 cabins. The ferry can take on board 970 passengers. It also has large cargo capacity and a separate deck for cars. The ferry has updated interior design, new cabin categories, a big store with great offers, leisure areas and different catering options, as well as an open deck, the company reports.
«In the nearly ten years we’ve been carrying passengers and freight in the Baltic Sea region we have been constantly following our clients’ needs and demand, we are happy to improve the experience for our clients. When compared to the ferries that operated on this route in the past, Stena Scandica and Stena Baltica provide 30% greater freight and 70% greater passenger capacity, more leisure opportunities and a more enjoyable travel experience on routes to and from Latvia. Both of the new ferries are an excellent addition to Stena Line’s fleet, and it is the first step on the path towards doubling the number of passengers carried on this Baltic Sea route in the next three years,» says Johan Edelman, Stena Line Commercial Director in the North Baltic Sea region.
The new ferries are equipped with multiple sustainable functions and fuel consumption rate improvements, such as hybrid treatment systems, ballast water treatment systems and other solutions, to offer sustainable transportation options in the Baltic Sea region. Increased capacity also means lower emissions per carried unit.
Ventspils-Nynäshamn is the shortest route between Latvia and Scandinavia. From now on Stena Scandica and Stena Baltica ferries. Stena Flavia and Stena Livia will operate on Liepaja-Travemünde.
