So far, Latvia’s State Security Service (VDD) has not identified any messages justifying terrorism, calls to engage in violent activities, or expressions of support for terrorist groups within the Muslim community in Latvia, the LETA news agency learned from the service.
The VDD stated that it continues to monitor the situation within Latvia’s Muslim community in accordance with its mandate.
The service also emphasized that the current terrorism threat level in Latvia remains low, and the information available to it
does not indicate that the situation is likely to change in the near future.
As previously reported, Riga Municipal Police have initiated administrative proceedings regarding a case of mass prayer by Muslims on a sidewalk in the Pļavnieki neighbourhood. Some social media users have expressed concerns about the potential arrival of radical Islamist individuals in Latvia.
