Deputies of St. Petersburg Smoleninskoye Municipal Council sent an invitation to the Russian State Duma to accuse Russian President Vladimir Putin of treason. According to them, the decision to start a war in Ukraine causes a threat to Russia and its residents.
The invitation was posted on Twitter by deputy Dmitriy Palyuga.
The document mentions that as a result of this war Russian army’s combat groups were destroyed and that young Russian citizens were left disabled or lost their lives, as Ukrainian Unian reports.
Russia’s economy suffers as well. The border Russia shares with NATO member states has more than doubled since the start of the invasion, the document mentions.
Deputies stress that the military operation’s goal to ‘demilitarise Ukraine’ has had the opposite effect. Ukraine has received modern military equipment and finances worth more than USD 38 billion, which exceeds Poland’s and Canada’s defence budgets, the document mentions.
Deputies believe Putin’s decision commence the invasion has created threats to Russia’s security and its citizens. They invite Russian State Duma to present Puting with accusations and remove him from his post.

Since the start of Russian-Ukrainian war, approximately 51 900 Russian troops, 9 000 Ukrainian troops and 382 children have lost their lives, according to Ukrainian sources.
