Similar weather conditions are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday – skies will occasionally clear, but intermittent precipitation is forecast, mainly in the form of wet snow and rain, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Meteorologists are urging road users to exercise caution, as some road sections may become slippery!
On Tuesday, a light to moderate north to northwesterly wind will blow, with gusts reaching up to 15 m/s in central and eastern parts of the country during the day. By Wednesday, moderate to moderately strong west and northwesterly winds will be felt across nearly the entire country, with gusts reaching 15–19 m/s, and up to 22 m/s in some coastal areas.
Nighttime air temperatures are expected to range between -1°C and -6°C, while coastal areas will see milder lows from -2°C to +3°C. During the day, temperatures will rise to between +2°C and +8°C.
In the second half of the week, cloud cover will periodically spread across the skies, bringing precipitation to most parts of the country—mainly rain and wet snow, with snow also expected in the eastern regions. On Friday, a new snow cover of 2–4 cm could form in the eastern areas. Winds will remain gusty in many regions, and nighttime temperatures will stay below freezing across most of the country.
