This weekend, under the influence of an anticyclone, the weather will feel like spring – the skies will be mostly sunny, significant precipitation is not expected, and the daytime air will be pleasantly warm, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre
Next week, temperatures will remain similar, though we’ll see less sunshine due to increased cloud cover, and there may be occasional rainfall on some days.
At the end of the week, the sun will alternate with clouds, but already by Saturday morning, the skies are expected to be mostly clear.
THE WEATHER WILL REMAIN DRY, WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION, EXCEPT FOR PATCHES OF FOG AND MIST FORMING IN SOME AREAS ON THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY, WHICH COULD SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE VISIBILITY.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre notes that light to moderate southwesterly and southerly winds will prevail, shifting to an easterly direction over the weekend. At night, air temperatures will mostly remain below zero across much of Latvia, with the thermometer hovering around 0 to -5°C, while positive temperatures will persist only in some coastal areas. During the day, the weather will be spring-like and warm, with most of the country experiencing highs between +7°C and +12°C. However, along parts of the Gulf coast, temperatures will not rise above +4°C to +7°C.
In the first half of the new week, a large cyclone will approach Latvia from the north, bringing increased cloudiness and precipitation, along with stronger winds. Due to cloud cover, nighttime temperatures below zero will occur only in some places, while daytime temperatures will remain spring-like, exceeding +10°C in parts of the country. The weather pattern is expected to stay similar in the second half of the week.
