During the night leading into Friday, a cyclone will bring rain to most of Latvia. In the central and eastern regions, expect prolonged and heavy rainfall, and in some areas, thunderstorms are also likely.
As the day progresses, atmospheric pressure will rise, and cloud cover will gradually decrease from the west, though rain will continue in the central and eastern parts of the country, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Temperatures overnight will drop to +10…+13°C, while daytime highs will reach +14…+19°C.
Saturday promises more favorable weather, with more frequent sunshine and only scattered short showers
expected in the east. Winds will be light to moderate from the west, with gusts of up to 15–16 m/s near the Gulf of Riga early in the night. Nighttime temperatures will fall to +7…+13°C, while daytime temperatures will rise to +17…+22°C, reaching up to +24°C in central Latvia.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre also reminds that the 21st of June marks the summer solstice, considered the astronomical start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest day of the year, and the shortest night will follow. On the 21st of June in Riga, the sunrise is at 04:29, and sunset is at 22:21.
On Sunday, showers are expected in some areas overnight, but more widespread rain is forecast during the day. Winds will remain light to moderate from the west, gusting up to 15–16 m/s during the day. Nighttime lows will be around +9…+13°C, and daytime highs around +14…+18°C.
During the Līgo holiday, weather will remain changeable.
On Līgo Day, the sun will occasionally break through the clouds, and no significant rainfall is expected.
Daytime temperatures will range from +16…+22°C. However, on Jāņi Day, several rain zones will pass through the country, bringing rain to most regions. Winds will intensify due to cyclone activity and become gusty in many areas. Nighttime temperatures will fall to +12…+15°C, and daytime highs will be between +15…+19°C.
Looking ahead, similar weather patterns will persist into the new week, as more cyclones approach Latvia. Expect occasional rain, a mix of sun and clouds, and periodic wind gusts. Temperatures will remain below +24°C.
