Snow expected to hit Latvia – up to 4 cm in the east

In the next few days, the weather will remain cloudy and light rain is expected in places, snow and wet snow is also possible in the east, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

On Wednesday, the 13th of November, the influence of the anticyclone will diminish and the south, south-westerly wind will become stronger. Daytime maximum temperatures will be +1…+7 degrees. More precipitation is expected on Thursday, with snow in eastern areas and in the evening in south-eastern areas, snow could become as thick as 2-4 cm.

Drivers in this part of the country should take extra care as the roads will be slippery!

Westerly winds will become stronger and gusty on the coast over the weekend. At night the air will cool to 0…+4 degrees, with warmer air along the coast at +2…+7 degrees, while daytime maximum temperatures will be +1…+6 degrees in most of the territory, +6…+9 degrees in Kurzeme and along the coast.

Friday is expected to be cloudy, with clearing skies at times. Precipitation, mainly rain, wet snow is expected in central and eastern areas overnight. During the dark hours of the day, the air will cool to +2…-3 degrees, warmer on the coast +4…+7 degrees. The day will be partly without precipitation and the air will warm up to +3…+8 degrees, a few degrees warmer in Kurzeme and on the coast.

There will be no significant change in the weather over the weekend. Most of the area is expected to be cloudy and rainy. Winds will continue to be gusty, reaching 16-18 m/s along the coast.

Next week will also start with rainy and windy conditions almost all over the country. At night, the thermometer will not drop below 0 degrees, while daytime maximum temperatures will mostly be in the +3…+8 degree range, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
