Slush and strong wind in Latvia make life harder for residents

On Tuesday, the 23rd of January, during the day and at night the sky will be mostly covered by clouds. They will bring wet snow and rain every now and then. Snow is also expected in eastern regions at night.
Roads will remain slippery, warns Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Although the wind will be moderate to strong and will blow from the south and south-west, wind speed will still reach 15-19 m/sec (20-22 m/sec along the coast)! On Tuesday night air temperature will fall to +1° C… +4° C. In eastern regions it will be a couple of degrees lower. Daytime air temperature will reach -2° C… +4° C, meteorologists say.
Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre notes that in the coming days weather conditions will remain similar, as cyclone activity will be dictating the weather: it is expected to be cloudy with moments of precipitation and strong wind, which will be strong along the coast. With warmer masses of air flowing to the country, precipitation will mostly consist of rain and wet snow. Nevertheless, it will snow in many parts of Latvia.
Precipitation is expected to be especially intense on Wednesday, the 24th of January.
At night and during the day air temperature will remain around 0° C… +5° C.
Current weather forecasts suggest atmospheric pressure will go up at the end of the week and weather will become more favourable – precipitation will calm down and wind speed will go down.
