Search for missing Evita in Sigulda continues; volunteers asked to assist

The search for missing five-year-old girl Evita continues in Sigulda. Police ask volunteers to help out.
Latvian State Police also invites the person who was piloting a drone in Sigulda, Gauja River beach yesterday. Police believe the video footage from that drone may help out with the search.
In two days since the girl’s disappearance police and volunteers have carefully gone through a wide area on both sides of Gauja River. The search continued last night as well. So far, unfortunately, the search has been fruitless. Nevertheless, efforts will continue until the girl has been found, according to State Police representatives.

Volunteers and people who own boats contribute a lot to the search, according to police.

Since the search continues, State Police urge volunteers to participate and, like before, gather at 09:30 a.m. on Peldu Street 2 in Sigulda. There they will receive coordination and the plan of action for the search from the police.

Assistance from volunteers will be needed the whole day. If something changes, police will announce it.

State Police are working on all possible scenarios of what happened. Considering the location and the fact that the last time the girl was seen was in the water, the majority of the search is focused on the water. At the same time, the search is conducted using boats, on land with volunteers and rescue workers and K-9 units, as well as UAVs.
Police urge residents and eye witnesses who have any information about Evita’s whereabouts to report it to 67950402 or 110.
