Russian missile and drone strikes knocked out power to much of the Ukrainian capital overnight, injuring nine people, the BBC reported.

Moscow has resumed intensified attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in recent weeks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on allies to take real steps to increase pressure on Russia. He wrote on the X that

from the United States, Europe and the G7 countries, supplying air defense systems and tightening sanctions against the aggressor.
Zelensky said that 450 drones and 30 missiles had attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure overnight, calling the strikes cynical and calculated at a time when temperatures are dropping.
Ivan Fedorov, the head of Zaporizhzhia region, said the city had suffered heavy damage overnight. An air raid alert was sounded throughout the region overnight, and Ukraine is currently preparing for strikes by Russian supersonic Kinzhal missiles – which are much harder to spot and shoot down.
Zelensky said that Russia is deliberately undermining the country’s energy grid, and the attacks are disrupting the operation of natural gas processing plants. Energy sector workers and authorities are preparing for further attacks.
