Russian special services’ malicious activities against Latvia may become more varied and aggressive

Next year, the malicious activities of Russian special services against Latvia may become more varied and aggressive, according to Latvian State Security Service (VDD).
According to VDD, activities from Russian special services will remain the chief concern for Latvia’s national security in 2025. Considering Russia’s aim to expand its influence in Latvia, this country’s special services will continue both intelligence and malicious activities in Latvia, VDD admits.
The security service reports that the malicious activities against various targets in Latvia may become more varied and aggressive as Russia continues efforts to promote a sense of danger within Latvian society and lower Latvia’s support to Ukraine.
VDD will continue performing preventive measures to reveal activities of Russian special services in Latvia.
More information on the trends and forecasts detected in the fields of national security in 2024 for 2025 will be available in the public annual report from VDD, which will be published at the beginning of the next year.
