On Thursday, the 13th of April, a Russian citizen was detained at Grebnev border checkpoint on suspicion of giving a EUR 200 bribe to a border guard in Latvia, as confirmed by the State Border Guard.
During regular border control of persons passing through the border entry to Latvia was denied to some 1944-born Russian citizen.
After receiving an entry rejection, the man turned to the border guards again, handing the rejected documents again, but this time with a EUR 200 note in an attempt to convince authorities to let him enter Latvia.
A criminal procedure commenced against the Russian citizen and he was detained by State Police.
