Russia requests compensation for dismantling of Soviet monument in Pārdaugava

Latvia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs has rejected the request submitted by Russia for a compensation for the demolition of the Soviet monument in Pārdaugava.
As the minister wrote on Twitter, Russia made an announcement that it will request compensation from Latvia for the demolition of the «monument to occupants».
Rinkēvičs said, Russia «will get a dead donkey ears, not a compensation».
In 2005 Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said Moscow will never agree to discuss territories with Baltic States.
Back then, describing his opinion on Latvia’s wish to recover Abrene (Pytalovo), Putin said: «They’ll get dead donkey ears, not Pytalovo».
