Russian forces launched a massive attack on the Ukrainian capital with drones and missiles on the morning of the 14th of November, hitting residential buildings and injuring civilians, Reuters reports.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said initial reports indicated three people had been killed and 26 wounded, four of whom were in hospital.
Officials said falling debris and fires caused by the impact damaged high-rise residential buildings, a school, a medical facility and administrative buildings in the capital. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said about 30 residential buildings had been damaged and called on allies to quickly implement measures discussed at the G7 summit in Canada. He wrote that Russia’s brutal attack demonstrates the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses and that
further steps must be taken to increase pressure on Russia,
including by allowing the use of Moscow’s frozen assets.
Klitschko said that the attack also damaged Kyiv’s heating system and disrupted the heat supply in one area of the city.
Images from Ukraine showed burning in several places in the city and residents gathering in the rubble-filled streets after the attack. The governor of the Kyiv region said that six people had been injured in the missile and drone attacks and that fires had broken out in several places.
The Ukrainian Air Force said that Russian drones and missiles had also been launched at several other regions of the country.
