The Russian Baltic Fleet, according to its press service, conducted tests in the Baltic Sea, during which missiles were fired from the corvette Burya at flying targets, writes the Estonian public broadcaster ERR News.
The fleet’s press release states that specialists from the missile and artillery unit from the Pantsir-M air defense system deployed on the corvette Burya fired missiles at flying targets that were launched from another corvette belonging to the fleet, the Boiki.
The Russian Baltic Fleet first reported on the Burya tests in April 2024. At that time, the Russians indicated that once the tests were completed, Burya would join the Baltic Fleet and perform the tasks assigned to missile ships and boats.
According to official information,
the Burya is the second ship built under the Project 22800 Karakurt.
The standard displacement of the ships of this project is 800 tons, they are designed to perform missions in coastal waters and are armed with Kalibr and Oniks missiles. They are also equipped with Pantsir-M air defense systems.
The Russian state news agency TASS reported on the launch of missiles from the Burya last October.
