Russia carried out one of the deadliest strikes on Ukraine

As NATO leaders are meeting in The Hague, Moscow has fired ballistic missiles at the Ukrainian industrial city of Dnipro, Politico reports.

Russia fired ballistic missiles at Dnipro, one of Ukraine’s industrial hubs, on the 24th of June, killing 17 people and wounding more than 270. Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov declared a day of mourning, saying the city had suffered the worst damage since the war started. A day earlier, Moscow shelled Kyiv, killing nine and wounding more than 30.

Since May, Russia has stepped up its attacks on Ukraine. It is also producing significantly more drones. Addressing participants in the NATO summit in The Hague, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Moscow had launched 2,736 Shaded drones in June alone. The Kremlin also fires dozens of missiles into Ukraine every day.

The recent flare-up in the conflict between Israel and Iran has complicated the situation for Ukraine,

as the administration of US President Donald Trump has already begun moving air defense systems to the Middle East.

In the attack on Dnipro, Russian missiles hit more than 40 schools and kindergartens, and also damaged a cathedral, a concert hall, a stadium, eight medical centers and hospitals, as well as many residential buildings. Filatov reported that a passenger train traveling from Odessa to Dnipro was also hit.

Zelensky is using his visit to the NATO summit to convince Ukraine’s allies to tighten sanctions on Russia and deepen the Kremlin’s isolation. In February, the Ukrainian president said that the United States had helped Russia return to the world political stage.

Trump has also refused to impose additional sanctions on Moscow,

saying that “there is a real chance to achieve something.”

Zelensky said in a speech of teh 24th of June that Russia cannot produce ballistic missiles and other weapons without components from other countries, which is why it is so important to weaken the schemes that bind Russia to its allies.
