Rinkēvičs marks two years as President of Latvia – what has been achieved?

During his two years in office, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs has undertaken 36 regional visits, according to data compiled by the Chancellery of the President.

On the 8th of July, 2023, Rinkēvičs took the solemn oath in the Saeima, becoming the seventh President of Latvia since the restoration of independence.

Since taking office, Rinkēvičs has submitted 17 legislative initiatives to the Saeima: 15 independent draft laws and two proposals related to draft laws already under parliamentary review.

Under his leadership, 21 meetings of the National Security Council and four meetings of the Presidential Military Council have taken place.

The President has also visited more than 110 companies across various sectors. Regular meetings have been organized with social partners, non-governmental organizations, and business associations.

Over the past two years, Rinkēvičs has visited 52 educational institutions: eight universities, four vocational schools, six gymnasiums, 28 primary and secondary schools, three special education institutions, and three kindergartens.
