Rīgas satiksme unveils a new logo; the costs are impressive

Riga’s municipal public transport company Rīgas satiksme (RS) has developed a new logo, as confirmed by the company’s Public Relations Office manager Baiba Bartaševiča-Feldmane.
The adoption of this new logo will happen gradually, over the course of approximately two years. No additional expenses are planned for this.
Initially the new logo will appear in electronic documents. The logo on public transports and printed materials will be replaced once the old one has worn out.

The new logo no longer includes the colours red and yellow.

The two will be replaced by green, which is supposed to symbolise new electric buses. The colour blue remains part of the logo because it is still used by many of the vehicles operated by the company.
Development of the new logo cost EUR 13 000.
The existing RS logo was developed in 2003. This means this logo is more than 20 years old.
On the 20 of February the company celebrated its 21st birthday.
“The company has changed over the past several years. The company’s management has changed, as has the company’s concept regarding the role of public transports in ensuring urban traffic and connections. Bus, trolleybus and tramway are slowly becoming more than just a simple mobility solution,” says RS board chairman Džineta Innusa.
The company now offers passengers information regarding real-time movement of public transports, digital tickets, as well as a simple and comprehensive ticket tariff system. A lot of effort was put into making sure use of public transports becomes more attractive and transparent.
In 2022, RS turnover grew by 5% – from EUR 161.12 million in 2021 to EUR 168.7 million last year. Profits more than doubled in 2022, reaching EUR 1.25 million.
