Massive precipitation struck Riga this Sunday, causing not only headaches for pedestrians and motorists, but also limiting public transport services.
Meteorologist Toms Bricis made an entry on Twitter. In it he admitted that although meteorological stations in Riga’s centre had registered only about 6 mm of rain, in other parts of the city the rain has caused flooding.

Grīziņkalns the rain was so intense it caused wide flooding of the area. Users on Twitter share their photos and videos, depicting the state on the city’s roads.

The flood has caused disruptions of 1st tramway in the capital city, as confirmed by Rīgas Satiksme.

Other Twitter users compared Riga’s streets to Venice. Sunday’s precipitation also hit other cities in Latvia, not just Riga.
