Riga Airport reports increased passenger turnover in January 2022

In January 2022 Riga International Airport serviced 246 000 passengers or almost five times more than a year prior, according to the airport’s operational data on the airport’s results for the first month of the year.
Two of the biggest passenger carriers in January were Latvia’s national airline airBaltic, which carried 49.9% or nearly 122 000 passengers to and from Riga and Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, which carried 73.4 thousand passengers or 29.8% of the total number of passengers.
Freight turnover at Riga airport reached 2 449 tonnes in January 2022. This is a 28% increase when compared to January 2021. Of the entire freight turnover, two-thirds were carried by cargo aircraft and one-third – by passenger aircraft.
Last month a total of 3 886 aircraft arrived and departed from Riga airport. 3 158 of them were passenger flights, 234 were cargo flights and 494 were business, military, technical or other flights.
