The registered unemployment level in Latvia was at 6.4% of the economically active population at the end of November 2021, which is 0.4 percentage points more when compared to a month prior, according to information from the National Employment Agency (NVA).
At the end of November 2021 there were 57 536 unemployed people registered with NVA, which is 3 494 more when compared to October, when there were 54 042 unemployed on record.
Unemployment was the lowest in Riga region – 4.4% of economically active population, which is 0.2 percentage points more than a month prior. Unemployment remained the highest in Latgale – 14.3%, which is a 0.4 percentage point increase.

In Zemgale, Kurzeme and Vidzeme the registered unemployment level increased 0.6 percentage points. Unemployment in Zemgale reached 6% of the economically active population. In Kurzeme it was 6.6% and in Vidzeme it was 6.7% of the economically active population in November.
In Riga the registered unemployment level increased 0.2 percentage points, reaching 4.3% of the economically active population at the end of November.
At the end of 2020 the registered unemployment level in Latvia was 7.7% of the economically active population. Last year unemployment was the highest in July and August – 8.6%.
