On Wednesday, skies will be overcast. During the night, light rain is expected in many places, and in the morning a broad precipitation zone will move in from the west, bringing rain to most of the country, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A light to moderate west and south-westerly wind will blow, gradually shifting to the south in the morning. By afternoon, coastal gusts may reach up to 15 m/s. Overnight temperatures will drop to +2…+7°C, while daytime temperatures will rise only slightly, reaching +4…+8°C.
Thursday and Friday will remain wet, and on Friday wet snow may mix with rain in some eastern areas. During the night, fog will form in several regions, reducing visibility. On Thursday, south-westerly and westerly winds will reach up to 19 m/s in coastal areas of Kurzeme. By Friday night, the wind will gradually shift to the northwest and north, becoming weaker.
Both day and night temperatures will remain within +4…+8°C.
At the end of the week, colder air will begin moving into Latvia from the north, causing temperatures to drop below 0°C in many places. Saturday is expected to be drier, but on Sunday there is a higher likelihood of seeing some snowflakes across a wider area. At the start of the new workweek, warmer air will flow into Latvia again, and sub-zero temperatures will remain only in the eastern regions.
