Putin’s representative leaves office because of Russia’s war against Ukraine

Anatoly Chubais is a veteran high-ranking Russian politician and entrepreneur, who has been Russian President Vladimir Putin’s representative in sustainable development affairs. Chubais has left the post and his country over the current Russian invasion of Ukraine, US broadcaster Bloomberg reports.
Bloomberg quoted two people familiar with the situation as confirming this, yet Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had not immediately responded to a request for comment.

A former Kremlin chief of staff and deputy prime minister, Chubais accepted Putin in his first Kremlin job in the mid-1990s. During the rule of Putin’s since 1999, Chubais has served in top jobs at big state companies until 2021, when the Russian President appointed him as the President’s envoy to international organisations for sustainable development.
