Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said on Thursday, the 21st of November, that the armed conflict in Ukraine has the characteristics of a “global” war and hinted at possible Russian strikes against Western countries.
In an address to the Russian people, Putin scolded Ukraine’s allies for allowing Kyiv to use Western-supplied weapons to strike targets on Russian territory and warned of possible retaliation.
Ukraine has fired missiles supplied by the US and the UK into Russian territory for the first time in recent days.
“We consider ourselves entitled to use our weapons against military targets in those countries that allow the use of their weapons against our targets,” Putin said.
He said Russian air defence systems had shot down US ATACMS missiles and British Storm Shadow missiles and added that “the targets that the enemy had obviously set were not achieved”.
