Public transport service in Riga to be free of charge on 18 November

During the national holiday in Latvia this week – 18 November – all residents and guests to Riga will be able to use public transport services free of charge, as reported by Riga City Council.
The local government informs that on Friday, 18 November, public transports will be using their weekend timetables. Residents and guests to the capital city have to keep in mind, however, that there may be short disruptions with movement of public transports at times when local evens are scheduled to take place.
Riga City Council informs that at 07:30 a.m. there will be a procession organised by Latvian Student Corporations. This procession will start from the University of Latvia and end at the Brothers Cemetery. The full route is this: Rainis Boulevard, Brīvības Boulevard, Brīvības Street, Cēsu Street, Mēness Street, Miera Street, Klusā Street, Gaujas Street, Aizsaules Street, Brāļu kapi.
At 13:30 p.m. there will be a National Armed Forces parade on the 11 November Riverbank. The parade will follow the following route: 11 November Riverbank, Riflemen Square, Kaļķu Street, Brīvības Boulevard, Brīvības Street, Bruņinieku Street, Sporta Street, Skanstes Street.
Military vehicles will follow 11 November Riverbank, Gen. Radziņš Riverbank and Turgeņeva Street.

Road traffic will be regulated and closed by Latvian State Police.

At 18:00 p.m. there will be a torch procession held in Riga. This procession will start from the Monument to K. Ulmanis and end at Rainis Boulevard. The event is expected to go for approximately one hour. All road traffic will be regulated and controlled by State Police.
Riga City Council also informs that motorists will be able to use parking lots managed by Rīgas satiksme free of charge. This option does not extend to the underground parking lot located on K.Valdemara Street 5a.
BNN reminds that road traffic restrictions will be imposed in many parts of Riga on 17 November as well.
