As reported, on the 23rd of August, Prigozhin’s plane he Embraer Legacy 600 crashed, was allegedly shot down. The plane carrying Prigozhin and other nine people, exhibited no issues until a sudden drop in the last 30 seconds, per flight tracking data reports Reuters.
At 18:19 local time, the plane experienced a “sudden vertical descent,” dropping over 2.4 km within 30 seconds. Flightradar24’s Ian Petchenik noted the rapidity of the event, mentioning potential struggles but
no prior indications of trouble.
Russian authorities have initiated a criminal investigation to determine the cause. Unconfirmed reports suggest the plane may have been hit by missiles, as reported by unnamed sources in Russian media.
Pro-Kremlin analyst Sergei Markov attempted to implicate Ukraine, suggesting a Ukrainian terrorist attack behind Prigozhin’s death, as reported by Politico.
Bellingcat journalist Christo Grozev, however, dismissed Ukraine’s involvement, noting it would have occurred when Prigozhin was a major enemy during the Ukrainian war. Grozev proposed Prigozhin might have staged his own death, attributing it to his style.
He also speculated that Putin could have ordered the murder
due to Prigozhin’s humiliation of him.
