Pretended to be a girl. Floorball club member accused of teenager’s sexual abuse

Latvian State Police asks the prosecution office to present criminal charges to a member of a floorball club for sexually abusing a teenager, as reported by State Police.
In November Latvian State Police received an application from a member of a floorball club regarding the spread of pornographic materials among members of this club. Police commenced a criminal procedure. During an investigation, police found out that the pornographic materials in question featured a 15-year-old member of the floorball club and some 2003-born man, who is both a member of the club and one of the umpires.

The 2003-born-man, using a profile of a non-existent teenage girl on social media,

and pretending to be a girl, had established communication with the victim. During their conversations he asked the teenage boy to send him pictures with his exposed genitals, which the victim did.
After some time the suspect, continuing to hide his identity, asked the victim to send photos and videos of sexual nature. The suspect started blackmailing the victim, threatening to release the previously sent files to other people if the victim refuses to do what he says.
The suspect met with the teenager in person multiple times. During those meetings, the suspect, using blackmail, forced the teenager to engage in sexual acts against his will. The teenager told no one of this because he was too afraid.

Although the teenager did as he was told,

the suspect still spread the pornographic files featuring the victim on social networks.
Police ask the prosecutor’s office to prosecute the suspect for committing 12 particularly serious and one less serious crimes of a sexual nature, namely sexual abuse and uploading files containing child pornography.
The suspect was initially placed in custody as a security measure. Later, the court amended it against bail, as well as additional security measures were applied – application to a police institution at a certain time, prohibition to approach a certain person, prohibition to train minors and to perform the duties of a judge at juvenile sports events and prohibition to leave the country.
