Politician: the Soviet Union has started dying only now

The Soviet Union, which Latvia managed to escape from in the ‘90s or the last century, has started dying only now, said chairman of Latvian Association of Regions Eduards Smiltēns at a meeting.
«We made it out in the 90s. Belarus was not let out and it has since returned to the Soviet Union without a single shot. Ukraine, on the other hand, is trying to break free of the Soviet Union in a bloody fight, losing thousands of lives – women and children,» said Smiltēns.
As for Russia, he said, the Soviet Union is dying, and it is happening is the ugliest, most disgusting and horrifying way. This ‘demon in its agony’ will show its true nature in the most frightening form.

But on the other side we’ve had the opportunity to observe humanity, the cohesion of Western society, solidarity, sincerity and selfless help, said Smiltēns.
