Podolyak: a peace treaty with Russia is currently not possible

Under current conditions a peace treaty with Russia is «non-prospective and impossible», liga.net reports with reference to what Ukrainian president’s advisor Mykhailo Podolyak said in an interview to NewsMaker.
When asked about the possibility of continuing peace talks with Russia, Podolyak said immediate ceasefire would mean part of Ukraine’s territory remains occupied. «It will be an occupation with maximum destruction and killings,» said the politician.

According to him, «an immediate peace treaty would lead to an escalation of war after some time»,

because «Russia will definitely go further and gradually capture more of Ukraine’s territories».
Peace talks will be possible only once the Ukraine has reinforced its military and negotiation positions. «Its possible for us to reinforce our positions if we receive arms for the eastern front and deal Russia a tactical defeat. In this case the talks will look completely different – with Ukraine’s positions dominating,» says Podolyak.

According to Podolyak, «a peace treaty will be possible only once Ukraine’s territorial integrity is restored and Russia suffers unavoidable defeat.»
