On Wednesday, 26 January, the first group of Latvian Olympic athletes departed from Riga International Airport for the Beijing Olympic Games 2022.
The group that departed for Helsinki yesterday consisted of 20 athletes.
Latvian luge team departed in full with ten athletes and five coaches. Cross-country skiers departed with six athletes and three support staff. Three luge riders and five coaches, as well as Short track speed skater Roberts Krūzbergs and his assistant also departed for Beijing.
On 31 January bobsleighers, mountain skiers, Nordic combined athletes and one more short track speed skater will depart for Beijing. Latvian national ice hockey team will depart for Beijing on 2 February.
At the Beijing Olympic Games 2022 Latvia will be represented by 57 athletes in 11 disciplines. Luge rider Elīza Tīruma and ice hockey player Lauris Dārziņš will carry the Latvian flag at the Olympics.
The Beijing Olympic Games 2022 will be taking place 4th to 20th February.
