People in risk groups invited to vaccinate for flu and Covid-19

With state-funding seasonal vaccination for flu and Covid-19 still ongoing, the Disease Prevention and Control Centre (SPKC) invites Latvian residents in risk groups to use this opportunity to help keep themselves and other people safe.
SPKC’s announcement mentions that this year there are three flu vaccine available as part of state-paid vaccination efforts, including a high-dose vaccine for seniors and a vaccine for children. A variety of Covid-19 vaccines is available as well.
Experts believe residents vaccinated for flue the most actively at the end of October, when 18 433 vaccination cases were registered in a single week’s time.
As of last week, more than 98 000 people in Latvia have been vaccinated for flu

and more than 26 000 have been vaccinated for Covid-19.

57 000 people have been vaccinated against flu in the 65 and older age group, nearly 40 000 in the 18-64 age group, and nearly 14 000 children and young people in the under-17 age group this season so far, according to a statement from the SPKC.
More than 15 000 people in the 65 and older age group, nearly 11 000 in the 18-64 age group and more than 160 in the under 17 age group have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in Latvia so far.
Vaccination monitoring data indicates that the amount of flu vaccines at healthcare institutions in Latvia varies. 1 019 medical institutions have received one of the several types of flu vaccines available. 124 of those institutions have ordered all three state-funded flu vaccines.
Currently Latvian medical institutions have 12 300 doses of Efluelda vaccine, 17 500 doses of Influval Tetra vaccine, and 1 700 doses of Fluenz Tetra vaccine.
SPKC works with medical institutions to compile information about institutions that offer residents state-funded flu vaccination services if they are no longer available at their family doctors’ practices.
SPKC reminds that state-funded vaccination for flue was also performed during last year’s flu season. Covid-19 vaccination uses currently available vaccines adapted to the existing SARS-CoV-2 variants: Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine Comirnaty and Novavax vaccine Nuvaxovid.
Residents can vaccinate for flu and Covid-19 in a single go.
