On Friday, clouds will bring rain to many areas, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms expected in the eastern part of the country. Overnight, fog will form in some regions, reducing visibility. Winds will be light but will shift from the south and strengthen to moderate in the morning, becoming gusty during thunderstorms, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Nighttime air temperatures will range between +10…+15°C, while during the day they will rise to +18…+23°C in many places, though coastal areas will be cooler, around +15…+19°C.
RAINY WEATHER TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND – RAIN EXPECTED ACROSS THE ENTIRE COUNTRY,
with the highest forecast precipitation again expected in the eastern regions, where heavy downpours and thunderstorms may occur in places.
The wind will continue to blow gently from the south, turning from the southwest and south on Saturday, becoming gusty in some coastal areas. At night, temperatures will drop to +10…+16°C, while during the day thermometers will often rise to +18…+23°C; along the coast, the air will remain cooler.
Next week, weather conditions will continue to be influenced by cyclonic activity – rain is expected every day across the country or at least in many regions, and the wind will become stronger, bringing gusts in places. A colder air mass will move in, resulting in similar temperatures during both daytime and nighttime hours, ranging from +9…+17°C.
In the eastern part of Latvia, more rain has already fallen, so the expected heavy rainfall there will lead to more significant flooding in low-lying areas and rising water levels in rivers. Therefore, an orange level warning is in effect.
