This year, more than 40% of Latvians expect their financial situation to improve at least slightly compared to last 2024, according to a survey conducted by Luminor Bank.
In turn, a small part of residents, nevertheless, believes that 2025 will bring a worsening of the financial situation.
Overall, over the last year, the mood of the Latvian population has become slightly more optimistic than at the end of 2023 – currently, slightly more than 42% of survey respondents view this year’s financial situation positively.
Among them, 22% said that 2025 will be much more prosperous than last year, and 21% expect at least a little better financial situation.
In turn, almost a quarter or 24% of respondents expect this year to be financially stable – they expect that the financial situation will not differ from that experienced last year.
Younger people more often expect an improvement in their financial situation – 74% of respondents expect at least minor improvements between the ages of 18 and 24, the survey found.
Meanwhile, there is also a part of the Latvian population who expects 2025 with concern – 16% of survey respondents indicated that they expect their financial situation to deteriorate this year.
Seniors aged between 65 to 75 who are already in retirement more often expect (more than 26% of respondents) financial difficulties this year than other groups of residents.
“Luminor Bank” survey in Latvia was conducted in December 2024 in cooperation with the research centre SKDS, interviewing 1 005 respondents aged 18-75 years.
