In October 2022 a total of 178 000 foreign and local guests were serviced at tourist accommodations around Latvia. This is 65.2% more when compared with October 2021, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia (CSP).
Guests spent 325.6 thousand nights at tourist accommodations, which is 61.4% when compared with October 2021.
In the ten months of 2022 Latvian tourist accommodations welcomed 1.9 million guests – 64.5% more when compared with ten months of 2021. However, when compared with the same period before the pandemic in 2019, there was a 24% drop in the number of serviced guests.
In October 2022 of all guests serviced at tourist accommodations 56.3% or 100.2 thousand were foreigners, which is 93.2% more when compared with last year. The number of nights foreigners spent in Latvia – 193.4 thousand – increased by 97.9% when compared with October 2021.
The average length of stay at tourism accommodations was 1.9 nights.
The majority of guests in October were from Lithuania (15.8 thousand), Estonia (13.2 thousand), Germany (8.3 thousand), UK (6.8 thousand), Finland (6.7 thousand), Norway (4 thousand), Ukraine (4 thousand) and Poland (3.9 thousand). Most guests were received in Riga (77.8%), Jurmala (5.6%), Marupe (4.5%), Liepaja (2.3%) and Sigulda (1.8%).
In October 2022 77.8 thousand Latvia residents were serviced at tourist accommodations, which is 39.2% more when compared with October 2021. The number of nights local residents spent at accommodations – 132.2 thousand – increased by 27.1% when compared with October 2021.
The most popular destinations for local residents included Riga (29.5%), Jurmala (13.3%), Liepaja (7.1%), Sigulda (5.4%), Cesis (4.5%), Daugavpils (3.4%) and Valmiera (2.8%).
