According to a decision project composed by the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers, it is not planned to extend the term of State Revenue Service (VID) director general Ieva Jaunzeme. Her term is set to end on the 12th of February 2024.
The Ministry of Finance received Jaunzeme’s application of the 28th of July 2023. In it, the official reports that her term as director general of VID ends on the 11th of February 2024 and that as of this date, she wishes to terminate the civil service relationship.
After looking at the progress with completion of VID’s development strategy’s for 2020-2022, the Ministry of Finance concluded that some of the previously established indexes were not reached.
As previously reported, in April 2023 Jaunzeme told LTV programme Šodienas jautājums that she does not consider staying as the head of VID for another term.
Previously,
the Combined List political party invited Minister of Finance Arvils Ašeradens to replace Jaunzeme and commence the reformation of VID.
In January 2023 Ašeradens, based on the results of a disciplinary case, decided to issue a reprimand to Jaunzeme for delayed implementation of the minister’s given task.
Jaunzeme will continue serving as the head of this institution until the end of her term. However, one condition is that the is to complete multiple tasks and report on their completion by the end of her term. The Ministry of Finance will be monitoring completion of those tasks.
On the 15th of September 2022 then the Minister of Finance Jānis Reirs initiated a disciplinary case and suspended Jaunzeme from her post in VID. The order was issued based on results of a report and in response to detainment of multiple VID employees by the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau and VID Internal Security Service.
