Member of the European Parliament Nils Ušakovs (S) has stepped down from the board of the party Saskaņa.
“I would like to wish Jānis Urbanovičs strength, endurance, and also good luck,” Ušakovs said.
It has already been reported that at its congress, Saskaņa decided to form an alliance with the Centre Party under the name Saskaņas centrs and to run in the upcoming Saeima elections, party leader Jānis Urbanovičs informed.
He indicated that other movements, including Latvijai 150, could also join the alliance.
The new structure is intended as a platform for active individuals who wish to engage in politics
without formally joining a party.
The alliance is expected to be more left-leaning than the previous Saskaņa and to allow for a more precise definition of political positions. Urbanovičs expressed hope that the alliance would surpass the 10% threshold in the elections and promised to offer a platform for dialogue to segments of society that feel unheard.
