On Friday, the 19th of April, weather will be partly cloudy and partly sunny. The day will pass without precipitation in most of the country. However, in south-western parts there will be rain and wet snow. Eastern parts of Latvia will experience snowfall, as reported by Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Some roads may become slippery! The will be slow and will blow from the north and north-east. Daytime air temperature will reach +3° C… +10° C on Friday.
On the weekend it will be partly cloudy as well. Dry weather is expected in most of the country. Precipitation is expected only in some areas. The wind will blow from the north and will be of moderate speed.
Meteorologists say that colder masses of air will continue flowing to the country. Nights will be considerably colder – on Saturday and Sunday air temperature will go down to +2° C… -3° C. The sky will become clear on the night to Sunday. In northern parts of Vidzeme air temperature will drop to -5° C.
Reads will remain slippery in areas where air temperature stays around 0° C. Daytime air temperature will be warmer, reaching +4° C… +9° C (+9° C… +11° C in south-eastern parts of Latvia).
Meteorologists say that weather will change in the beginning of next week – a new cyclone will pass into the country from the south-west and its influence on weather conditions will remain for the whole week.
The cyclone will also bring windy and rainy weather. Because air temperature will continue going down, both at night and during the day it will be at +2° C… -3° C. Precipitation will mostly be in the form of wet snow and snow.
A layer of snow will form anew in many parts of the country and will reach 4-8 cm (8-10 cm in eastern parts).
With weather remaining cold, the snow will melt slowly. In some areas the snow will remain for several days. At the start of the week the wind will blow from the north and north-west. On Monday and the night to Tuesday wind speed will reach 15-19 m/sec and even more along the coast.
